On May 14, 2026, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ( IPCC ) Official Gerrit Hanson, together with expert teams from Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and other institutions, paid a visit to the Wuhan New Energy Research Institute for an exchange and jointly participated in a symposium on revising the Energy Conservation Law and fostering cooperation in energy efficiency and carbon reduction, initiated by Tsinghua University.

This event is centered around on-site visits to deepen understanding, thematic seminars to build consensus, and pragmatic matchmaking to forge cooperation. It brings together international climate experts, leading domestic universities and research institutes, as well as pioneering local enterprises, focusing on… Energy Conservation Law In-depth exchanges were held on key issues such as policy revisions, the rule-of-law framework for energy conservation and carbon reduction, the practical application of low-carbon technologies, and coordinated industrial development. The entire process—comprising site visits, seminars, and collaborative matchmaking—was successfully completed, injecting strong momentum into the legal, international, and industrial advancement of energy conservation and carbon‑reduction efforts.

At the outset of the event, IPCC official Gerrit Hanson, together with expert teams from various universities and research institutes, visited the Wuhan New Energy Research Institute and Wuhan Youwei Cloud Energy‑Saving Technology Co., Ltd. They conducted on-site tours of the companies’ business showcases, R&D facilities, and project implementation outcomes. Throughout the visits, company representatives provided detailed briefings on the firms’ technological advancements, practical project experience, and market applications in areas such as industrial energy‑saving upgrades, intelligent building‑energy management, corporate energy‑efficiency improvements, and low‑carbon digital services, thereby highlighting the hands‑on expertise and innovative capabilities of energy‑saving enterprises at the forefront of energy conservation and carbon reduction.

Following the tour, a special symposium was officially convened. The meeting focused on the core themes of revising the Energy Conservation Law, which has now been incorporated into the national legislative plan. Participants engaged in discussions on key issues such as improving the energy‑conservation regulatory framework, refining incentive and penalty mechanisms, aligning dual controls over energy consumption and carbon emissions, and upgrading energy efficiency in priority sectors. Drawing on policy realities and industry challenges, they offered constructive recommendations, providing expert input to inform the refinement and enhancement of the legislation.

At the meeting, all parties engaged in thorough coordination and exchange, leveraging the synergies of government–industry–university–research collaboration to reach multiple agreements on joint technological R&D, the commercialization of scientific findings, and cooperation on energy‑saving projects, thereby establishing a long‑term framework for collaborative partnership.

Wuhan Youwei Cloud stated that it will take this exchange as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation with universities, research institutes, and international organizations, closely align with the evolving direction of energy‑saving regulations, and focus on promoting the practical application of intelligent, compliance‑driven energy‑saving technologies, thereby helping enterprises enhance quality and efficiency and accelerate their green transformation. Moving forward, all parties will continue to pool their efforts on revising the Energy Conservation Law, strengthen ongoing exchanges and collaboration, leverage legal framework development to guide the growth of the energy‑saving and carbon‑reduction sector, and wholeheartedly support regional and national efforts toward high‑quality, green, low‑carbon development.
